Dotty About Dotty Gifts

It’s been a while since our last post, as we’ve been busy creating our brand new website.  We hope you like it.

Ribbons and Wraps – the Art of Beautiful Gifts

When you send a gift, in my opinion I think it should arrive looking as gorgeous as possible.  So after much pondering, I’ve decided to offer all my customers free Gift Wrapping with every order.  Why?  Because a lot of time and effort has gone into selecting the range of gifts that I stock at Purple Pink and Red, and really want them to arrive with that extra special touch. 

Of course, people can choose not to have their orders gift wrapped, and that’s quite sensible if they’re ordering for themselves (which, I may add, I fully encourage – we all need treats at regular intervals to keep sane these days).  But if I’m honest, one of the best parts about getting an order is the preparation and presentation of it – making it look that little bit more special than the same item delivered by someone else.  That’s what gives me the ‘thrill’ and the professional pride.

Things that make you smile

We all need things around us to make us smile.  And children are wonderful at the job!  Mine make me roll up with laughter sometimes, with their antics and capers and the way they try to copy everything I do.  I find they’re the perfect tonic for a bad day at the office.

And this cow makes them smile: 

I believe they think she’s just a tiny bit ridiculous!  They love pulling her ears, tugging her udders, and generally carting her about the house with them in an undignified fashion.  All three of them argue over her (they are boys I suppose). 

And as for me?  I just like having another female around!  In fact if I’m totally honest, she really belongs to me.  When she hasn’t been ’stolen’ by the boys, she sits on my desk, looking at me with her rather dizzy eyes, and keeps me smiling. 

So if you want to make someone you know smile, old or young, happy or sad, I can recommend a cow just like her as the perfect gift.  They really are a wonderful tonic. 

But you can’t have mine.  She’s a fully paid for member of the office and the family, and she’s not going anywhere, in spite of her occasionally random behaviour and her rather quirky looks…  After all, that’s why she makes me smile.

Rainy Days and Mondays

Gosh, what a lot of rain we’ve just had.  So much so that leaving the house today was a battle against the elements, what with the children’s rain cover blowing into our next door neighbour’s front garden, along with the most inopportune, complete disappearance of all the umbrellas in our house.  But it got me thinking…

Admittedly today is rather cold here in London.  But the sun is shining, the daffodils are out, and I can feel that spring is just around the corner.  So after months of neglect (at least on my part anyway), it’s time to start thinking about the garden again…
